Ohio Board To Rule On Mercy For Condemned Killer
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) will have the final say as to whether a condemned killer scheduled to be executed Jan. 16 deserves clemency.
But the state's Parole Board will announce its recommendation today.
Dennis McGuire was ordered put to death for killing a 22-year-old pregnant woman in 1989.
If McGuire's execution goes ahead, he'll be put to death using a never-tried type of lethal injection — either a specialty dose of pentobarbital or a combination of a drug sedative and painkiller.
