State Police were called out to a three vehicle crash on US Highway 190 at Interstate 49 Friday night that lead to one man’s death and multiple injuries.

Catherine Arclese, 47 of Opelousas, was driving north on the I-49 Frontage Road, and her car was stopped on US Highway 190.   A truck driven by 18-year-old Brandell Pryor of Opelousas was driving west on US Highway 190 and towing a Buick with a strap to the truck. 25-year-old Porche Rubin of Opelousas was steering the Buick.

Troopers say Arclese tried to get to Interstate 49 both crossing both lanes of US Highway 190.  Her car crossed into the path of Pryor’s truck.  Both of their vehicles went off of the roadway on the northbound side of 190.

When the first crash happened the Buick hit the back of the truck, and it came loose from its strap, and it went off the roadway to the west.

Arclese was injured and taken to a hospital, while her passenger, 55-year-old Harold Richard of Opelousas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology tests are pending, and several people in the truck and Buick were injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
