Professional Hockey Returning To Baton Rouge, Louisiana
A new hockey team will be hitting the ice in the capital city later this year and we have all the details.
It's been over 20 years since professional hockey has been played in Baton Rouge. That drought ends this October when a new team will call the city home.
The team's ownership group set up three exhibition games earlier this year at the Raising Cane's Center to test the waters and see if the city would support the return of hockey. The residents of Baton Rouge exceeded their expectations with over 20,000 fans watching the three games.
The Baton Rouge Pro Hockey team made the announcement on their social media:
The team will be competing in the Federal Prospects Hockey League and playing 28 home games this season beginning in October. There will also be a team naming contest announced in the next few days on their social media.
