Louisiana Ragin' Cajun senior guard Malik Marquetti will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, the team announced today.

Marquetti suffered the injury in Saturday's win at Southeastern Louisiana.

"It’s disappointing that Malik will miss the rest of the season due to injury," said head coach Bob Marlin in a statement. "Since the Kansas game, Malik was making great strides offensively and has been our best defensive player. As one of our team captains, Malik was having an All-Conference season and our staff felt like he was taking on the role of leadership and consistency that (former Ragin’ Cajuns guard) Frank Bartley displayed for us.”

Marauetti, who transferred to Louisiana from USC in 2016, was averaging 15.1 point per game this year, second best on the team.

Louisiana (9-4) begins conference play this Thursday at home against Arkansas State.

Tip-off from the Cajundome is set for 7:00pm.
