ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — A man serving time for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle -- who then stole a truck while serving on a work detail Monday -- is back in custody.

Rapides Parish deputies say officers with the Natchitoches Police Department found a suspicious truck on a dead-end road during routine patrol on Tuesday. Officers say when they talked to the driver, he admitted he was Randy Girod, the walk-off from Rapides Parish.

Police say Girod was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators are still looking into whether or not Girod had any assistance in this walk off from a parish work crew.
