Roger Ebert Dies at 70 – Watch His Best TV Clips
It is with a heavy heart and our thumbs way, way down that we report that film critic Roger Ebert has passed away at the age of 70 after a long public battle with cancer.
To say Ebert was the world's most influential film critic is an understatement. As a longtime writer for the Chicago Sun Times and the host of multiple incarnations of the syndicated movie review show 'At the Movies,' Ebert brought film criticism to the mainstream all the while championing independent and foreign filmmaking. As an author, he published multiple bestselling books, including the classic 'I Hated, Hated, Hated This Movie' and his recent autobiography 'Life Itself.' As a screenwriter, he was responsible for penning the screenplay for the notorious Russ Meyer flick 'Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.' Tech-savvy even in his later years, Ebert was an early proponent of blogging at his popular website and one of the most popular Twitter users on the Web. (You can read his final blog post here.)
But what we'll remember most about Ebert is the passion he brought to his movie reviews on the show he shared with Gene Siskel, Richard Roeper and many others. Take a look at a few classic Roger Ebert clips below. RIP, Roger. Movie theaters just got a lot darker.
