The New Orleans Saints have added a linebacker to their practice squad.

Brian Blechen was signed to the team's 10-player practice squad on Wednesday, after cornerback Brian Dixon was signed to the Arizona Cardinals' 53-man roster on Tuesday.

The 25-year old Blechen played his college football at Utah, before signing with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in September of 2015.

The 6-2, 225-pound Blechen was released by the Panthers, before being signed to their practice squad, prior to being released just two weeks later..

The Panthers brought Blechen back to their practice squad in December of last year.

A native of Moorpark, California, Blechen was released in the final cuts by the Panthers prior to the start of this season, before later rejoining their practice squad.

Blechen was released by the Panthers in November, still not making an appearance in a regular season NFL game.

Over the course of his college career at Utah, Blechen appeared in 48 games, compiling 264 tackles, to go along with 3.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

The Saints close out their 2016 regular season schedule on Sunday afternoon, when they travel to Atlanta, Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons in an NFC South match-up.
