Saints Resign Stephone Anthony And Three Others
On Wednesday the New Orleans Saints announced that they've resigned Stephone Anthony as well as signed three other players amidst injuries on the roster.
The roster moves made were to not only fill out the 53-man roster but the practice squad as well.
Anthony was the most notable name that was signed. A week after being released by the Saints he'll be back due to injuries sustained on special teamers J.T. Gray and Patrick Robinson.
In addition, the team brought in a veteran at defensive back Johnson Bademosi. The 29-year-old broke into the league in 2012 and played four years with the Cleveland Browns before bouncing around with Detriot, New England, Houston, and earlier this year Miami. Bademosi has played in 114 career games, recording an interception, nine passes defended, and 91 combined tackles.
The defensive back room is a bit banged up at this point as P.J. Williams is out, Eli Apple and Patrick Robinson sustained injuries this past week so Bademosi might have a chance to play this week along with Ken Crawley.
The other two players that the Saints brought in were to fill spots on the practice squad. Those players were safety Trae Elston and tight end Jason Vander Laan.
Elston is a young player who hasn't played an NFL snap since 2017 when he split time between the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills. He's played 14 career games and has an interception, three tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits.
Vander Laan is 27 years old and doesn't have much NFL experience at all. He's played just four games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2017 and has yet to record any stats.
