A little girl got the scare of her life when a sea lion grabbed her from a dock and dragged her underwater.

It all happened in an instant. One second the family was admiring the sea lion, then in the blink of an eye the animal came out of the water and grabbed the young girl by her dress, yanking her into the water.

The girls family, along with other onlookers at the Steveston Fisherman's Wharf near Vancouver let out screams of shock when the animal sprang from the water. A man who is reportedly a relative of the little girl jumped in after her and was able to safely bring her back to the dock.

Michael Fujiwara posted the video to YouTube, describing the situation:

She and her family, I guess, they came, they started feeding the animal bread crumbs or whatever it was, and then I guess the animal got a little too comfortable.

This video is a reminder that wild animals are just that—wild. Experts say this animal, a large sea lion, is probably used to people feeding it, so it's highly likely that he thought the little girl's dress was food.

Let this be a lesson to enjoy the wildlife, but be sure to enjoy it from a safe distance.
