A 48-year-old Acadiana man who pleaded guilty to running down Benjamin Lewis in 2009 has had the sentencing phase of his case moved to September.

State Police say Lewis was hit by Shannon Miller as Lewis was trying to cross highway 339 back in September of 2009.

Miller was suppose to be sentenced yesterday, but now that phase of the case will be handled on September 5.

Troopers say Lewis' body was found on the side of highway 339, and the driver of the vehicle that hit him had fled the scene.

State Police say it took four months of investigative work to determine that Miller's vehicle was connected to the death.

Miller pleaded guilty to negligent homicide.
