BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Officials say the executive director of Teach for America in South Dakota will be recommended as the next executive director of Louisiana's top school board. Penny Dastugue, president of the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, tells The Advocate that the new hire will be paid $115,000 per year if the board approves the recommendation on Thursday. The choice for the job is Catherine R. Pozniak, who is being recommended by Dastugue and two other officers on the 11-member panel. Pozniak would be the fourth person to hold the job since 2008. BESE sets policies for about 660,000 public school students statewide. Pozniak would succeed Jeanette Vosburg, who left the post late last year after 18 months.
