Special Olympics Fall Classic This Weekend In Lafayette
This weekend over 400 Special Olympics Louisiana athletes will be heading over to Pelican Park, the Robicheaux Center and Olympic town at Carencro High School for the Fall Classic.
This year's Honorary Coach will be Athletic Director for St. Thomas Moore, Kim Broussard.
This year's Honorary Chair includes NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL's Bernadette Lee, all ULL athletic teams along with Special Olympics athletes and staff.
Hundreds of athletes, volunteers, staff, ULL athletic teams and family members invite everyone to enjoy the festivitis through the weekend.
You can come on out all weekend to cheer on these hard working athletes.
This year's events include State Aquatics, Horsehoe and Softball competitions that all get underway Friday, October 17th and will wrap up Sunday, October 19th.
If you want to cheer on atheletes in softball or horseshoe competitions you will find that at Pelican Park at 110 Softball Drive in Carencro.
Aquatics will be held at the Robicheaux Center at 1919 Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette, while Olympic Town will be at Carencro High School at 721 West Butcher Switch Road.
On Saturday there will be a Healthy Athletes program that will be presented.
Tonight's highlights include the opening ceremonies and lighting of the torch with more fun activites throughout the weekend.
