Recently on 'Geaux Acadiana with Ken Romero and Dr.John Sutherlin' Louisiana State Treasurer John Kennedy said a constitutional change may be needed in the wake of State Legislator's approving nearly $400 million in taxes without the required two-thirds vote.

State Legislators argued during the legislative session that only a majority vote was needed to fix a $1.6 billion deficit.

Kennedy said,

I think we ought to revisit the constitution to make it clear that a two-thirds vote is required whenever the Legislature votes in any fashion to take more money out of taxpayers' pockets.
