SULPHUR, La. (AP) — A Lake Charles man has been arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of toys that were meant for children of low-income families.

After getting several tips about the theft, Sulphur Police detectives and Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputies were led to 45-year-old Johnny Pappillion, who confessed to taking the toys. Police say Pappillion later took investigators to a storage building, where the toys were recovered.

Pappillion was booked into the parish jail on five counts of theft. State District Judge David Ritchie set bond at $50,000. He also was booked by Sulphur Police on three counts of theft and three counts of false personation. Bond on those charges was set at $125,000.
