A number of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns were given recently given notice for their outstanding effort and contributions on the football/practice field, helping them to a big non-conference win last Saturday.

Louisiana listed a number of Players of the Week, after their 45-25 triumph over the Ohio Bobcats in Athens, Ohio.

Senior running back Elijah Mitchell, along with junior running back Trey Ragas, senior receiver Ja'Marcus Bradley, and senior offensive lineman Robert Hunt were given Player of the Week honors on offense.

Mitchell was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, rushing 17 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while Ragas added another 129 rushing yards and a score, with Bradley contributing 5 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Junior linebacker Joe Dillon, along with senior linebacker Jacques Boudreaux, senior defensive end Bennie Higgins, and freshman defensive back Kam Pedescleaux were handed out Player of the Week honors on defense.

Boudreaux and Dillon paced the team in tackles, with 8 and 6, respectively, 9, while Higgins recorded a sack and Pedescleaux had an interception.

Finally, T.J. Wisham, Percy Butler, and Rhys Byrnes were among others honored.

The Cajuns open up Sun Belt Conference play this Saturday when they travel to Statesboro, Georgia to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles.

Kickoff time is scheduled for 5 o'clock (CDT).
