The 9th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball fell on the road in non-conference action on Friday, dropping an 8-0 decision to the 2nd-ranked Oregon Ducks at Howe Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The match-up, which was the opening game of a three-game series, ended after five innings, due to the mercy rule, and put an to end to Louisiana's 9-game win streak.

Oregon junior left-hander Cheridan Hawkins fanned 11 batters and tossed a no-hitter while the Ducks used a five-run second inning to pull away from a scoreless game and help them cruise t the 8-run win.

Nikki Udria, Janie Takeda and Jenna Lilley, the Ducks' 1-2-3 hitters in the lineup, combined for seven hits for Oregon, with Lilley and Udria each belting home runs. Lilley went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs for Oregon with Udria and Takeda each going 2-for-3.

Hawkins (21-3) recorded the win for the Ducks, allowing only two walks, while Jordan Wallace (14-3) suffered the loss for the Cajuns.

With the victory, Oregon improved to 39-5 on the season, while Louisiana dropped to 34-6.

The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 2 pm (Central Daylight Time).
