Walker Man Dies in Midday Crash on Atchafalaya Basin Bridge

52-year-old Eric N. Davis of Walker died during a crash on Wednesday that happened on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge on Interstate 10 East about 8 miles west of Ramah.

Louisiana State Police spokesman Trooper Derek Senegal says the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. when Davis' car ran into an 18-wheeler that was stopped in the outside lane on I-10 East because of traffic.

In a press release, Trooper Senegal says Davis was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology samples have been taken from Davis. The 18-wheeler driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Authorities continue to investigate.
