This week kicked off in a major way for Shreveport's own Willie Jones.

I've written several articles about Willie over the years, covering his meteoric rise to fame. What started as an incredible audition on the X-Factor way back in 2012, has blossomed into Willie becoming one of the up-and-coming names in all of music.

2021 has been a monstrous year for our hometown boy already. He kicked off the year by releasing a patriotic anthem for our times titled, "American Dream", followed by the release of his debut album, "Right Now". Both the single and the album have received rave reviews since their release. With those two successful releases under his belt, he was ready to take it to the next level.

Just this past weekend was a monstrous milestone for Willie, achieving what all country artists dream of. A performance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.

Knowing Willie, I'm sure he took that moment in for as long as he could, much like when he performed at the historic Shreveport Municipal Auditorium a few years ago, the home of the historic Louisiana Hayride.

Willie didn't get much time, however, as the next career milestone was already knocking on his door.

Monday night, Willie Jones performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I believe all up-and-coming artist have two TV shows circled as dream gigs.  That would, of course, be Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show.

Willie can now cross The Tonight Show off of his list, as he performed his hit, "American Dream", and absolutely brought the house down.
