Throughout the season we'll be keeping an eye on not only the Houston Astros but the Top 5 in MLB on a weekly basis, you can check out the entire list here.

The Houston Astros had an up and down week this past week as they dropped three of four in Minnesota against the Twins (20-12) and swept a two-game series in Anaheim against the Angels (15-19).

Houston sits at 20-14 to begin this season and this week they've slipped a little bit in the weekly power rankings down to 3rd overall.

Here is this week's Top 5:

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers (22-14)-Steady at 1
  2. Tampa Bay Rays (21-12)-Up one to 2
  3. Houston Astros (20-14)-Down one to 3
  4. St. Louis Cardinals (20-14)-Steady at 4
  5. Chicago Cubs (19-12)-Up five from 10

The Houston Astros were stuck on a six-game road trip last week in which they went 3-3, this week they've got all their games at home. They'll kick off the week by squaring off with the Kansas City Royals (12-23) for three games (Mon-Wed) and four with the Texas Rangers (16-16) to finish out the week.

A couple of teams who struggled last week around Major League Baseball were the Seattle Mariners (19-17) who got out the gates hot but hit a six-game skid before winning on Sunday they dropped from 6th in the rankings to 15th. Also, the Oakland Athletics (15-21) slid down four spots from 19th to 23rd by losing five out of six games last week to the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates (16-15)

On the other side of the coin, there really weren't any teams who made any big leaps upwards this week, mainly status quo.
