Wet Start Forecast for South Louisiana’s Weekend

Granted our holiday plans this year have been a little, okay, a lot muted by the situation that we will simply call the year 2020, that doesn't mean there aren't things to do. Among the many activities, you might find yourself looking into this weekend are high school playoff football, Christmas holiday celebrations, and of course, holiday shopping.

The weather forecast could play a part in your plans this weekend. So, we felt a heads up was necessary since we will likely two different bouts of inclement weather in South Louisiana over the next 48 to 72 hours. The first round of rain and storms will move into the area late in the day on Friday. The second round of rain will likely be a part of your plans on Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, with the exception of some fog to begin the day, Thursday's forecast is wonderful. Temperatures will climb into the lower 70s by midafternoon and skies will be clear. The same can be said for most of the day Friday. However, clouds will build into the area late in the day. The rain is forecast to begin in Acadiana about the time high school football games will be wrapping up.

The good news is that the late Friday early Saturday round of showers should move through quickly. Saturday should be basically rain-free, except for a slight risk of a sprinkle, However, that rain-free window will likely close by late Saturday night

Sunday's forecast includes a 50% chance of showers and storms. Those will be followed by some very cold weather to begin the next work week. While we don't anticipate freezing weather conditions, it will be cold enough for space heaters, warm blankets, and those God-awful ugly Ugg Boots to make their appearance around offices and homes by Monday morning.
