Woman Dies After Being Hit By Her Car

BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) — Bossier City police are investigating an accident that left a 79-year-old woman dead, apparently run over by her own vehicle.Police spokesman Mark Natale told The Times that Mary Cooksey was backing her car out of a driveway Wednesday when she appeared to lose control.

Natale says the car crossed the street and onto a curb, forcing it into a reverse U-turn. He says Cooksey apparently fell out of the vehicle at that point and was crushed before the car went through a chain-link fence and crashed into a garage.

Cooksey was pronounced dead at LSU Hospital.

Natale says police haven't found any witnesses to the accident. Detectives are trying to determine what caused her to fall out of her car.
