Man Arrested On Child Porn Charges

On January 22, 2011, the Lafayette Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit began conducting undercover operations to locate those individuals who possess, manufacture and/or distribute child pornography. As a result of these operations, investigators obtained a search warrant on February 14, 2011, for an apartment at 422 W. Taft Street in Lafayette.  Investigators located a computer in the residence with child pornography images contained on it.  On January 16, 2011, an arrest warrant was issued for Brian Smith (31) of Lafayette for Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles.  Smith turned himself into authorities at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center that same day.  The case remains under investigation.
