2 NW La. Banks Called Citizens To Merge

MINDEN, La. (AP) — Citizens National Bancshares of Bossier City and Citizens Bancshares, Inc. of Springhill are merging.

The Press-Herald reports that Citizens Bank & Trust of Springhill will become part of Citizens National Bank, N.A., of Bossier City.

Their combined total assets -- $547.6 million as of September 30th -- would make it the 19th largest out of 136 banks chartered in Louisiana.

They have a total of 15 offices and branches in cities including Shreveport, Plain Dealing, Haughton, Homer, Haynesville, Minden and Mansfield.

The merger plan announced Friday needs regulatory approval. It is scheduled to close by March 31st.
