The LSU Tigers football team may only be three games into the 2022 season, but some are already looking towards 2023.

The Southeastern Conference released the team's 2023 football schedule on Tuesday evening.

The Tigers will open Brian Kelly's second season as head coach on Sunday, September 3 against Florida State in Orlando, Florida. They then host Grambling State for the first time before five straight SEC games.

Other nonconference opponents include Army and Georgia State.

The opener will be played at Camping World Stadium. This game, which pays LSU $5.1 million, completes the two-game neutral-site series against the Seminoles. As you recall, the Kelly era started two weeks ago with a 24-23 loss against Florida State in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome.

LSU will be paying Army and Georgia State both $1.6 million to come to Baton Rouge, according to the game contracts. The contract for Grambling State has not been released.

The contest against Army will only be the second time the two schools have played in football. The last time the Tigers and Black Knights squared off was 1931 in West Point, New York. Army won 20-0 and LSU has not faced a United States Military Academy on the gridiron since. Gov. John Bel Edwards is a West Point graduate.

One interesting fact about the 2023 schedule is when the Tigers face Arkansas. That happens in Week 4, or on September 23. That game had been played in November for the past 31 years.

And as usual, LSU has an open date before playing at Alabama.
