Iberia Parish Sheriff's officials say two young men have been arrested on a whole host of charges after deputies say they were led on a high speed chase with the two who were in a stolen vehicle.

Deputies say they got a call about a suspicious vehicle being on L. Dubois Road, and when they went to investigate, they tried to stop the driver 18-year-old Chris Anthony Rue Jr, but the young man wouldn't stop the truck.

The four mile chase ended when Rue crashed the truck at the interseciton of East Pershing and Bank Streets.

Deputies took the passenger, Quinndred Batiste, into custody at the scene.

Batiste was later booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for a charge of principle to simple burglary.

Officers had to chase down Rue because after the crash he tried to run away from them.

They found out that neither man owned the truck in the chase, but that the truck had been stolen from New Iberia.

Rue was booked into the Iberia Jail on several charges including the following:

  • Aggravated flight from an officer
  • Possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Aggravated criminal damage to property
  • Simple Burglary

This whole incident began around 2 o'clock this morning when the call came in about the suspicious truck.
