ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager was killed in a single-vehicle accident on La. Highway 496 west of Alexandria.

Troopers identified the victim as 16-year-old Chase Michiels of Alexandria.

Trooper Scott Moreau says Michiels was eastbound early Monday morning when his lost control of his pickup, ran off the road, struck several small trees and overturned.

Moreau says Michiels was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected during the crash.

Michiels was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreau says the victim's only passenger, a 17-year-old, was not wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries.
