The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office says they arrested a Baldwin man this past Saturday after the man allegedly hit a deputy, paramedics and medical personnel during a November 13 incident.

Back in November, a deputy was called out to a business in Jeanerette after a call came in about a medical emergency.  The deputy was told Laronzo While had fallen to the ground, and he was thrashing around.

While paramedics were taking White to a local hospital, he tried to hit the paramedics, and once he got to the hospital, he allegedly pushed, struck and spit on medical personnel trying to help him.

The deputy believed White had used synthetic marijuana.  More deputies were called in to assist in restraining the combative man.

The deputies were trying to restrain the man for safety reasons, when it is alleged he hit and pushed deputies..

White was then taken to a Lafayette hospital for more treatment for his suspected synthetic marijuana use.

White was arrested December 5 after being pulled over for a traffic violation on Highway 182 in Sorrel.

He was wanted for the following:

  • Disturbing the peace (intoxicated)
  • Battery of a police officer
  • Six counts of simple battery
