Bennetti Questions Senator Elbert Guillory’s Strategy
Today Walt Bennetti, political blogger from ClickJefferson.com joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' and discussed Senator Elbert Guillory hosting a fundraiser for Congressman Bill Cassidy and Tea Party efforts to defeat Common Core.
State Senator Elbert Guillory is set to host a fundraiser on Wednesday, September 25th for Congressman Bill Cassidy's effort to unseat incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu. What's interesting according to Bennetti is,
Guillory himself as we've talked about before is rumored as a possible US Senatorial candidate against Bill Cassidy. Senator Guillory is not denying those rumors. We also talked about him possibly running for Lt. Governor.
Interestingly Bennetti noted,
Guillory told the New Orleans Times Picayune that he will support 'until and unless I get into the race myself'. Against Bill Cassidy. So he'll raise money for Bill Cassidy and then raise money for himself. I don't know how that makes sense.
Bennetti pointed out,
There is an Acadiana angle to the fundraiser. Although it's being held in Baton Rouge on the 25th it's being co-hosted by Bill Fenstermaker from Fenstermaker Technologies. Obviously a big deal in Republican circles in Acadiana.
Turning to education and the Common Core Curriculum Bennetti said,
The ground swell against Common Core continues to grow and it is lead by the TEA Party. What's interesting about Common Core is it seems like only moderates are for Common Core. The left worries that Common Core is moving too fast and that teachers and the teacher's unions aren't on board with Common Core. While people on the right say that educational decisions should be left in local hands.
