Boustany Announces Grants For Verm. Parish
Washington, D.C. – Representative Charles Boustany (R-Southwest Louisiana) today announced two grants from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) awarded to the Vermilion Parish Police Jury. The first grant, totaling more than $441,000, is for improvements to the Henry Hub Access and Charlie Field Roads in Vermilion and Iberia Parishes. The second grant of more than $469,000 will be used to reconstruct and rehabilitate four roadways in Intracoastal City: Offshore Road, M.I. Liquid Road, Barge Road, and Teal Road, which provide important transportation routes for OCS facilities and operations.
According to BOEMRE, the Henry Hub grant will be used in partnership with the Iberia Parish Government to “look into new innovative alternatives to restore and protect shoreline, build landmass and create vegetated wetlands.”
“These funds will go a long way to improve the infrastructure of Vermilion and Iberia Parishes, which will foster the growth and development of commerce in Southwestern Louisiana,” Boustany said. “I have and will continue to push for improvements to our coastline and infrastructure.”
The projects are part of the CIAP plan, which was created by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to distribute $250 million in federal assistance to energy producing states to mitigate the impact of oil and gas activities on the Outer Continental Shelf.
