Washington, D.C. – Congressman Charles Boustany, Jr., congratulated the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team on their return to Louisiana after serving in Iraq over the past year.

“I extend my deepest appreciation to these brave men and women who have served our country and defended our liberties abroad,” Boustany said. “I am proud to represent so many of these troops, and I welcome them home after their tour of duty in Iraq.  Their sacrifice should remind all Americans that freedom is not free.  I welcome them home and wish them all a Merry Christmas as they spend the holidays with their families and loved ones.”
The 256th Infantry Brigade, headquartered in Lafayette, is returning to Louisiana throughout the month of December.  The brigade, part of the Louisiana Army National Guard, was deployed to Iraq in January 2010 to help stabilize the country.  The troops are expected to be home in time for Christmas.
