According to a report from the Basile Weekly Facebook page, police officers in that community are facing more than bad guys when they report for work. Officers of the Basile Police Department are facing a budget crisis so severe that they have been told to check with the Town Clerk or the Chief of Police before they begin their shift.

The reason?

There might not be enough money in the town's coffers to pay them.

Just last month the town announced it would be closing down its police dispatch office because of budgetary reasons. Now comes this revelation that officers could be pulled off the streets or not allowed to be on patrol because of a lack of funds.
