UPDATE, Thursday, May 13--5:23 a.m.: State police say Ashton Willis has been found safe. State troopers did not say if his mother, Ashley Bang (a. k. a. Ashley Willis) is still considered a suspect in the case or if she is facing charges. The Basile Police Department is still investigating the case.

ORIGINAL STORY, Wednesday, May 12--5:23 p.m.

A missing child alert has been issued by Louisiana State Police in relation to a 3-year-old Basile boy who was last seen on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Authorities say the boy could be in imminent danger.

According to state police, three-year-old Ashton Michael Willis was last seen on Sunday in Basile. He was with his mother at the time, although she does not have custody of the child. Authorities worry that the boy is in imminent danger.

Ashton was last seen wearing a t-shirt and diaper and is approximately three feet tall, weighing 40 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair and is described in the report as biracial.

The 32-year-old mother of the boy, Ashley Bang, is possibly driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier and she is wanted for questioning by Louisiana State Police.
