Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team picked up a non-conference home victory on Thursday evening, defeating the Lamar Cardinals, 77-60, at the Cajundome.

Louisiana led at the half, 37-19, and never looked back, cruising to the 17-point win.

The Cajuns out-shot the Cardinals from the field, 44%-40%, and also forced 25 turnovers, including 17 in the first half.

Louisiana was led by a trio of players, including senior guard Alan-Michael Thompson, freshman guard Elfrid Payton, and freshman center Shawn Long. Thompson scored a team-high 18 points, Payton scored 17 points, while pulling down 11 rebounds, and picking up five steals, and Long added 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Lamar was paced in a losing cause by Rhon Mitchell, who had a game-high 21 points.

With the win, the Cajuns improved to 4-6 on the season, while the Cardinals fell to 1-8.

Louisiana is back in action on Saturday night, when they travel to Houston, Texas, to take on the Houston Cougars in non-conference play.
