HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Tangipahoa Parish has seen a big increase in interest from potential businesses so far this year.

Executive Director of Economic Development Stacey Neal says new jobs, investments inquiries and visits are all up over 2012.

Neal says the number of jobs created is up 56 percent over 2012, while the number of investments is up 49 percent, inquiries are up 35 percent and site visits are up by 40 percent.

While visits and interest are always good, Neal says commercial construction is even better.

Currently Tallon Products is in the process of renovating a building on Conrad Anderson Street in Hammond. Neal says the business has been approved to participate in the Enterprise Zone incentive program by both the state and parish.
