Louisiana Man Accused of Watching Sexual Abuse of Baby, Sharing Video
Officials in Louisiana say they have arrested a man after he allegedly watched child pornography that featured the abuse of a baby and then shared the material, according to a law enforcement agency.
The arrest happened on Thursday, February 6, in St. Mary Parish after an investigation in Tangipahoa Parish had been going on to determine the origin of a video being shared on a social media platform featuring a baby being sexually abused.
The Internet Crimes Against Children unit of the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office has been investigating since January 2025 when they said 33-year-old Devon Poirier allegedly had shared the video.
The St. Martinville man was arrested on three counts of pornography involving a child under the age of 13. St. Mary Parish authorities arrested him and booked him into their jail. He is awaiting movement to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
Poirier was an over-the-road truck, and officials say that more than 30 electronic devices were found in Poirier's truck when it was searched. According to law enforcement, they will also be searching through those devices as well.
Officials in Tangipahoa Parish say the electronic devices will be forensically searched to discover what is on each of the devices.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Department officials say they want to thank the following agencies for helping in this investigation including the following:
St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office
St. John Parish Sheriff's office
Louisiana Department of Transporation and Development Police
Internet Crimes Against Children of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office partners with the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill along with that agency's ICAC Task Force.
