Dialing The Wrong Number Leads To Drug Bust In St. Mary Parish
This narcotics arrest may earn at least one of these suspects the moniker of "Acadiana's--maybe America's--dumbest criminals."
One can imagine when one St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office detective was stunned when receiving a a call from Leandrea Fuselier saying she wanted to arrange a drop off narcotics to an inmate at the parish jail.
That stunned detective, realizing Fuselier had dialed the wrong number, quickly initiated an investigation.
The fortuitous phone call tipped the detective off to a plan that Fuselier, and another suspect, Jeremy Green, had devised to get drugs to an inmate, Kurwin Lewis.
Detectives met with the two drug traffickers at a gas station in Jeanerette where the initial drop off was to occur. The drug distributing derelicts were immediately detained.
What's even worse is there was also a child in the vehicle at the time of the attempted drop-off.
In the suspect's car, narcotics detectives found a brown paper bag containing a loot including synthetic cannabinoids, marijuana, Valium pills, Adderall pills, tobacco, and a cell phone.
Fuselier and Green were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
The contraband was intercepted; the suspects were booked and the detectives recorded a substantial drug bust that fell into their laps with a wrong number.
