It's been reported that the average American puts away 2500 to 3600 calories at Thanksgiving.  That same report stated it would take a 29 mile walk to dispense with those calories.  I'm not sure about the exact calorie count but I'm sure I'm due for a very long walk tomorrow.  I don't think I over indulged but our table featured rice dressing, cornbread dressing, corn casserole, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, sweet potato casserole, home made cranberry sauce, broccoli salad, pecan rolls, bread, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, apple walnut cake and of course turkey.  Now to be honest I didn't eat some of everything but I came close.  For a moment in time it was "carb heaven" but I know there will be "carb hell" to pay later!

For the past eight weeks I have been religiously following the Paleo Solution diet by Robb Wolf and have lost eight pounds and really gotten my cholesterol numbers in line so today almost puts me back to square one.  Tomorrow morning I'll be back on the carb-less track but I'm not sure if that 29 mile walk will happen all at once.

I thank God for the bounty of our table and I thank God for having the Lafayette part of my family with me and everyone healthy today.  I thank God for my Lake Charles family and wish they could have made it in for the day but we were with them in spirit.

This has been an incredible day filled with blessings and now I can hear the war cry "Let the shopping begin".  I hope we can all remember the meaning of this day as we head out to begin the next big holiday on the horizon.  I hope we can all be patient with one another in the stores and above all while on the roads.  Lets keep it safe out there even if the roads are filled with people just like ourselves.
