13-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Recognized As Honorary Lafayette City Marshal
A 13-year-old cancer survivor has been making headlines after being recognized by President Trump Tuesday night during his speech to Congress.

DJ Daniel is a teen from Texas who has defied all odds after being diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 and was originally only given five months to live.
DJ and his father have been on a mission to make his dream of becoming a police officer a reality by traveling to different states. DJ has become an honorary member of over 800 different agencies across the country. Trump also made DJ an agent of the United Secret Service, even giving him his own customized badge, according to Fox News.
"Police departments love him. And tonight, DJ, we're going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service"
DJ said he wasn't expecting it and was honored to be recognized in his speech.
The father-son duo made a stop in Lafayette on Friday afternoon and was awarded another special honor after Marshal Reggie Thomas and Deputy Antonio Logan were moved by his story.
The Lafayette City Marshal's Office shared the following post on social media with a photo of DJ and Marshal Thomas.
