The year of the drought. State climatologist Barry Keim says that Louisiana has had to deal with warm temperatures all year, and including the lack of rainfall, 90% of the state is still in a drought.

He says this can be attributed to La Niña in the Pacific Ocean. This years rain take was 43 inches,which is about 17 below average.
