A Duson man has been arrested and charged with stealing a car from a Scott business. On February 5, 2011, Pouriye John Ighani is alleged to have committed the burglary at Manheim Auction in Scott. With assistance from Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Office, Scott Police were able to make an arrest on  Ighani.

During the burglary the suspect gained entry by cutting a chain which secured the gates to the yard of the business. Upon entering the yard the suspect removed vehicles one by one during the night time hours. The suspect was later arrested the next morning after the suspect wrecked a Mercedes, stolen from the yard, near Duson. State police arrived and arrested the suspect with OUI after suspect failed the Field Sobriety Test. At the time of the accident it was not known the vehicle was stolen but later found to be from the Auto Auction in Scott. A total of two vehicles and a fiberglass fishing boat were located at the suspects residence being stolen from the auction along with 8 other vehicles located near the auto auction positioned in a area to be possibly stolen later. Officers are lead to believe the suspect was going to return and steal the other 8 vehicles had he not been involved in the crash. The vehicles ranged from pickup trucks to Luxury SUV’s. All above charges were added to Mr. Ighani’s booking papers at LPCC by Scott City Police. The value of all the vehicles is estimated over $150,000.00
