DWI CHECKPOINT PLANNED FOR SATURDAY

(St. Martinville, La.)-On Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 7:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m., Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office along with Officers from Breaux Bridge Police Department, Henderson Police Department, Parks Police Department, St. Martinville Police Department, Opelousas Police Department, and the U.S. Marshall’s Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint in Breaux Bridge.This joint event is made possible through funding from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission-Safe Communities Grant. We would like to alert the public that impairment can also be caused by persons under the influence of over the counter medications, narcotic medications, and other illegal substances besides alcohol. Drivers are reminded to buckle up and drive safely.
