Elderly Woman in Louisiana Mauled to Death by Three Vicious Dogs

(New Orleans, Louisiana) - An 81-year-old woman has died after being attacked by three dogs in New Orleans East..

According to WWLTV, three dogs broke through a fence and attacked the elderly woman on March 20, 2025.

When police officers arrived, they found Barbara Stewart with multiple bites to her body, and she was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. where she later died.

Zorrilla, CEO of the Louisiana SPCA, released this statement following the deadly attack: "This attack is a reminder to dog owners that they are responsible for securing their dogs on their property and ensuring neighbors and loved ones are safe from dog bites and attacks.”

According to the report, the dogs broke through a gate and attacked the victim, while the owner of the dogs witnessed the attack. All three dogs were impounded, and at the request of the owner, one dog was euthanized.

The two dogs that were not euthanized are being held on a 10-day mandatory quarantine.

The Louisiana SPCA is investigating this attack, and they will use their discoveries to further educate dog owners and protect citizens who may be around dogs while out in public.
