Eunice Man Behind Bars After He Threatens Step-Children With Rifle
A Eunice Man is behind bars after firing a few shots from a rifle to threaten his step children.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff's spokesperson Major Eddie Thibodeaux said around 4 p.m. Monday witnesses reported 32-year-old Frederick D. Stevens was pointing a rifle at the children and firing six or seven rounds.
Other calls were received reporting Stevens was beating an 18-year-old female and threatening another 15-year-old.
Once on the scene, deputies recovered the AR-15 used in the assault hidden underneath a bed in Steven's room.
Deputies were able to view a video captured on a cell phone of Stevens threatening the 15-year-old female while holding the rifle.
The investigators determined the victims involved were Steven’s stepchildren.
Stevens was arrested on the following charges:
- Illegal Use of Weapons
- Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
- 2 Counts of Domestic Abuse Battery
- Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
No bond was set for Stevens, who is a convicted felon.
