FEMA Drive Thru Centers to Open in Acadia and Beauregard Parishes
If I think back 15 years ago to the confusion that reigned supreme over federal assistance following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita I can safely say, FEMA has upped their game storm relief efforts following Hurricane Laura. While I am sure there are instances where frustrated storm victims can find fault with the effort, for the most part, the FEMA response has been pretty solid.
In fact, FEMA is opening two more drive-thru Disaster Recovery Centers tomorrow in South Louisiana. One will be in Acadia Parish. The other will be in hard-hit Beauregard Parish.
In Acadia Parish, the center will operate from the Southside Community Center in Rayne. That's located at 403 4th Street. In Beauregard Parish, the FEMA center will open tomorrow at the War Memorial Civic Center in DeRidder. That facility is located at 250 West 7th Street.
The hours of operation are from 0700 am until 0500 pm. No appointments are necessary and the centers will operate seven days a week while there is a demand for assistance.
Remember all FEMA drive-thru Disaster Recovery Centers operate under strict COVID-19 protocols. Masks or face covering are required for entry and service. You will be asked to remain in your car while a FEMA specialist works with you on your case.
