It's amazing to see the progress the city of Lafayette has seen over the last 50 years. One of the iconic landmarks for the city is Cajun Field, home of the Ragin Cajuns and years ago site for some great live events including Alabama and Reba in concert.  The area has come a long way from its humble beginnings. The Facebook Page Lafayette Memories has some really wonderful posts sharing what the area used to look like, businesses that are long gone, and some that are still here having survived all the changes, oil bust and resurgence. Craig Zimmerman shared some photos from the L'Acadien yearbook of Cajun Field in the early '70s. Using Google Earth above we managed to get a similar photo angle so you can see where we are now compared to where we were back then.
