A GoFundMe has been created for the grandmother of U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) in hopes to save her home in Puerto Rico. While the campaign is lined with political angles, the page hit its goal of almost $50,000 in only three hours.

See the original announcement of the GoFundMe page posted to Twitter by @MattWalshBlog below.

See the post that quickly followed from @MattWalshBlog on Twitter which announced that the goal had been reached.

To add some context to this story, here is the Twitter post from @AOC that prompted the GoFundMe creation.

@MattWalshBlog responded to @AOC's Twitter post, here is how she felt about that response.

@AOC's Twitter post got attention from many, who by no coincidence don't seem to agree with Ocasio-Cortez politically, on Twitter that pointed out the luxuries she enjoys. See one response below.

The point of @AOC owning a Tesla has been pushed throughout this GoFundMe, as many online have donated the monthly payment for the car to the cause. See some Twitter posts below that report a $499 donation to the campaign.

At the time of this publication, the GoFundMe page has raised over $67,000 and is climbing quickly as word spreads around social media. Some are calling for the page to be reported as they believe that the creator doesn't have intentions of sending the money to AOC's grandmother.

But to be fair, @MattWalshBlog has reached out to @AOC on Twitter in hopes to get information on how the money can be given to her grandmother.

As of now, the U.S. Representative from New York has not yet responded to the above Tweet or to the GoFundMe. But one thing is for sure, the political undertones through this fundraising campaign are apparent.

Politics aside, I hope in the end that the money raised does end up with AOC's grandmother as the GoFundMe intends. There will certainly be plenty of fire-stoking from both sides of the aisle as the campaign continues to gain steam on social media.
