Help Acadia Crime Stoppers Catch A Copper Thief
A case that is being investigated by detectives with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is being featured this week on Acadia Crime Stoppers.
According to officials with the department, there have been numerous instances where copper was taken from electrical boxes and transformers.
These thefts have happened in the Western Acadia Parish area near Evangeline, and officials are hoping someone can give them information about these incidents that happened last month.
So, if you so something suspicious happening in Evangeline, along the Old Evangline Highway or in any of the areas in between, you are asked to contact Acadia Crime Stoppers so they can solve this case.
You can even get reward money if you information leads to an arrest.

The thief or thieves cut the power to these transformers and boxes to steal the copper without getting electrocuted.
Detectives say these people would even pull down utility poles to get to the copper.
The cost of these crimes is around $25,000.
