LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) – As the only nonprofit hospice provider in the region, Hospice of Acadiana continues to serve the greater Acadiana community with a commitment rooted in compassion, dignity, and accessibility. For over four decades, this local organization has provided exceptional care for patients facing life-limiting illnesses—regardless of their ability to pay. Now, through its 2025 "Hit the Road with Hospice" raffle, the organization is inviting the public to support its mission in a fun, engaging, and potentially life-changing way.

A Raffle with Purpose—and Big Prizes

The 2025 “Hit the Road with Hospice” raffle is Hospice of Acadiana’s largest annual fundraiser, and it plays a critical role in funding the organization’s unreimbursed services. Every ticket purchased helps ensure continued access to high-quality hospice and palliative care, bereavement counseling, and inpatient services that are never denied due to financial hardship.

This year’s raffle offers some incredible prizes designed to excite supporters and reflect the raffle’s road-trip theme. Participants will have the chance to win:

  • A 2025 Hyundai Tucson SE

  • A 2024 Rockwood Geo Pro camper

  • Two round-trip flights and a $500 Visa gift card

Tickets are available now for $20 each, and entries will close at 2:00 a.m. on May 25, 2025. Supporters can purchase as many tickets as they'd like to increase their odds while directly contributing to an essential cause.

More Than a Hospice—A Legacy of Community Support

Founded in 1983, Hospice of Acadiana has cared for more than 30,000 patients and families throughout its history. It holds the distinction of being Louisiana’s longest-serving hospice provider and remains the only nonprofit hospice in the region. Its services go beyond medical care to encompass emotional, spiritual, and social support, all delivered with the utmost compassion.

Hospice of Acadiana operates four vital divisions:

  • Inpatient and outpatient hospice care

  • Palliative Medicine of Acadiana, offering relief for those with serious illnesses

  • The Acadiana Center for Loss & Transition, which provides free grief counseling

  • Calcutta House, an inpatient hospice residence for acute needs

These programs are backed by the Hospice of Acadiana Foundation, which ensures that no one in the community is ever turned away due to financial limitations.

Why Community Support Matters

While Medicare and private insurance may reimburse a portion of services, many of the critical resources Hospice of Acadiana offers—especially bereavement services and community education—are only made possible through donations and fundraisers like the annual raffle. By participating in the 2025 raffle, supporters aren't just entering for a chance to win—they’re becoming part of a compassionate movement to provide dignity and peace to individuals in their final stages of life.
