Hurricane Names For 2017 Season
We all love to hear the sound of our own name. Unless our name is associated with something that isn't pleasant or causes destruction.
Such is the case with hurricanes.
I would imagine there are quite a few ladies with the name Katrina that have one more reason than the rest of us do for wishing that storm never happened.
The list of names for the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season have been posted and it's always fun to see if our name or the name of someone we know or love is on the list. We all want to know will "our " storm be a major player or will it fizzle out like a tropical tourist who has had one too many umbrella drinks.
Here are the names that will be associated with the upcoming tropical season.
Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irma, Jose', Katia, Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, Phillipe, Rina, Sean, Tammy, Vince, and Whitney.
If the preseason forecast from Colorado State holds true then we should only make it to Katia by the time the season ends.
Hurricane names are chosen by the World Meteorological Organization. The reason storms have a name is so that you and I can follow their progress more easily. Scientist found that the general public can identify more with a name than a number. This list of storm names will not be repeated until the year 2023.
