Buc-ee's started in Texas in 1982. It was founded by Arch "Beaver" Aplin III and Don Wasek. The first store was in Lake Jackson, Texas, much smaller than the huge Buc-ee's we see today. The store's mascot, a beaver named Buc-ee, comes from Aplin's nickname, “Beaver.” Buc-ee's quickly became known for having the "Cleanest Restrooms in America," which is why people love stopping there.

Over the years, Buc-ee's has grown a lot. You can now find Buc-ee's in several states, including Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina. There are even more stores planned to open in new states like Louisiana.
